I spoke with Rebels coach Steve Junker following the 4-3 win against Grand Forks. Hear that audio here.
The Rebels are, of course in the midst of a 1-game in 10-day stretch, that game being Saturday's home contest with Penticton (7:30, Complex), so a warning in advance that content could be light over the next week or so. I'm happy to announce that starting today, I'll be writing weekly articles for the Castlegar News about the Rebels. I'm very excited about the opportunity to delve into print, and also to expand our coverage of the team to people both in the community and following online.
Bits & Bites: Penticton will come into Saturday's game looking to rebound after a tough home loss last night. Thierry Martine scored twice for Osoyoos in a 4-3 come-from-behind win at the SOEC. The Coyotes, despite being an expansion team, have gotten off to a roaring start picking up 5 of a possible 6 points from their first three games. Spokane is waiting to hear whether they will get defenceman (and last year's captain) Chase Wharton back. He's trying out with the SJHL's Humboldt Broncos.
