Post-Grand Forks Audio

I chatted with a couple Rebels, and as per usual, the head coach following yesterday's 7-0 win over Grand Forks.

Proud To Be Pink:
The Rebels will use pink stick tape and pink skate laces on Saturday night when they host the Spokane Braves (7:30, Complex) in support of the following day's CIBC Run for the Cure to end breast cancer in Castlegar. We've seen this done by other teams in previous years (the Vancouver Giants come to mind for me). It's a small gesture but in my opinion an appropriate one, and kudos to the Rebels (and other teams across the country taking part in similar nights) for showing their support.

Out of Town:
Tonight, Nelson takes on Spokane at the NDCC Arena. A Braves parent tells me Spokane has never won in the new building in Nelson. Mountain FM's Matt Soper has the pay-per-view call beginning tonight at 7.

Bits & Bites: RiderNews has the latest on Fernie's injury situation. It appears forward Jordie Cool will be out for at least 6 weeks after being checked from behind last weekend. The Riders also shipped Keanan Patershuk to Beaver Valley to complete an earlier trade that saw Thomas Abenante head east.
