Rebels 12 Border Bruins 2

A convincing win in front of a great crowd for the Rebels in their only pre-season home date against the Grand Forks Border Bruins. Arthur Andrews scored once and added 5 helpers, his teammate last year with the major midget Kootenay Ice Diego Bartlett added a hat-trick, and veteran Spencer Brodt had a 4-point night of his own in a game that was close until the final two minutes of the second period. Josh McGladery scored twice, Tyler Jones, Quinn Klimchuk, Jesse Knowler and Brett Basnett added singles for the Rebels. Tyson Schoenthal and Lucas Hildebrand scored for Grand Forks.

Beaver Valley won their pre-season opener, 4-3 in Creston. Kelowna put 8 past Sicamous in the first KIJHL game at Rutland Arena, Chiefs win 8-4. The Penticton Vees won the Mountain FM Ashes tourney in Trail, edging the Smoke Eaters 5-4 this afternoon in a game that saw Trail come back from a 3-0 deficit and hold a third period lead at one stage.

Up Next: at Beaver Valley, 2:00 PM tomorrow (Sunday). The regular-season opens Friday at the Complex, when the Nelson Leafs pay their first visit of the new season (7:30 PM start).
