Rebels 5 Leafs 1

Ryan Aynsley and Erik Wentzel each scored twice, Tyler Robinson added another as the Rebels won 5-1 in Nelson tonight, giving them a sweep in their opening weekend home-and-home series. Goaltender Andrew Walton made 27 saves, including one off an Adrian Moyls penalty shot, in a game that saw Nelson go 0/8 on the power play. The only blemish on his record was a short-handed breakaway courtesy of Gavin Currie in a night that saw Nelson frustrated offensively. The Rebels were outshot 28-19 in the game.

Up Next: The Rebels (2-0-0) will be back in action at home Tuesday night against the Grand Forks Border Bruins (7:30 PM, Complex). If you can't make it to the rink, catch the free (until the 24th of this month) webcast at

Bits & Bites: Nelson was without D Tyler Parfeniuk for Saturday's game. He injured a shoulder in Friday's contest, Cameron Dobransky moved back to defense in his place. Could the Columbia Valley Rockies be turning a new leaf? They're 2-0 to start the season after wins against Golden and Kimberley. For the second straight night, Beaver Valley scored a late third period goal to win, this time courtesy of Tyler Collins in a 3-2 win over Spokane.
