Another early start for the Rebels (10-3-0) tonight in a 5-2 win over Grand Forks. Dylan Richardson and Taylor Anderson scored in the first 6 minutes, while a pair from Anthony DeLong and a first-period game-winner courtesy of Matt Ridley rounded out the Rebels' scoring. Zach Thompson and Randy Tosoff replied for Grand Forks (1-13-0). Alex Ross, making his first start in October, made 35 saves for the win.
Castlegar were without a whack of players tonight as well. Defenceman Darren Tarasoff did not play, and the club was without forwards Spencer Brodt and Stuart Walton (suspended), as well as leading scorer Ryan Aynsley, who signed as an AP with Trail but did not play in their 3-1 loss at Vernon. The much-maligned misconduct rule will likely strike again after tonight's game. Forward Adam Smith fought in the final ten minutes, meaning he will likely be forced to sit one game.
Up Next: Another visit from the Spokane Braves, Friday (7:30, Complex).
Out of Town: I worked the Nelson/Spokane game tonight (a 2-0 Braves win on goals by Jesse Collins and Uriah Machuga). It was the first win by Spokane at the NDCC Arena since Feb. 7, 2007 (a stretch of 16 visits). Fernie beat BV 6-5 in overtime, former Hawk Mike Wiest scored the winner.
