Make it 8 straight.
Arthur Andrews converted a centring pass with just over 6 minutes left in the second period for the eventual game-winner as Castlegar upended Spokane 3-1. Erik Wentzel and Jamie Vlanich also scored for the Rebels, who got a strong 36 save performance from goaltender Alex Ross. Brycen Fisher scored the game's ice-breaker, but it was all the Washington visitors could muster.
Tonight's game lacked the intensity of the last meeting on December 2nd, until a check that knocked Braves forward Jeremiah Holmes out of the game. Erik Alden caught Holmes at full speed as he exited the Braves zone, and the Spokane forward was on the ice for several minutes after the unpenalized hit being attended to by trainers from both clubs. Hopefully he's able to bounce right back and play tomorrow night. The Braves dressed former Thunder Cat Erich Schwabe tonight as Zak Kroll, Aaron Jackson and Derek Davis were all out.
Up Next: A return engagement against the Braves, this time in Spokane tomorrow night before a week-long Christmas break.
Out of Town: Although he's not listed anywhere on the scoresheet, Fernie's twitter reported forward Jordan Hirano did indeed make his 'Riders debut tonight in an 11-1 win over Columbia Valley. It looks as though Fernie's Mark Strachan and Columbia Valley's Connor Beauchemin could both be on the sidelines for each club's next game after a multi-fight situation in the third period. Creston Valley snuck past Grand Forks 3-2, the Bruins Cody Robertson and Creston's Kane Dawe fought in the final ten minutes.
