Rebels 9 Nitehawks 3

Mike Wiest and Diego Bartlett each had two goals in a 9-3 Rebels romp over a flu-ridden Beaver Valley Nitehawks squad. The Rebels jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and rode the strength of three power-play goals to move into a share of the Neil Murdoch division lead.

Tyler Jones, Josh McGladery, Stuart Walton, Jamie Vlanich and Taylor Anderson also scored for the Rebels, who improve to 21-5 on the season. Cole Buckley made 30 saves in his Castlegar debut. Ryon Sookro, Ryan Edwards and AP callup Luke Bertolucci replied for Beaver Valley (20-10-0-2).

Both clubs were missing some key personnel. The Rebels were without forward Spencer Brodt and defenseman Darren Tarasoff, while BV was minus forwards Colton Donselaar, Chris Derochie and Tyler Collins as well as hulking defenseman Austin Sture. Bertolucci's Kootenay Ice mates Jesse Knowler and Jake Lucchini suited up as AP callups tonight; Knowler for the Rebels, Lucchini for BV.
