Aynsley Suspended 2 Games

The KIJHL has handed down a 2-game suspension to Rebels forward Ryan Aynsley for a checking from behind major and game misconduct incurred late in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Grand Forks.

The incident happened late in the third period, when Aynsley hit Border Bruins defenseman Derek Grimm near the Rebel blue line. Grimm stayed down for several seconds before leaving the ice under his own power.

Aynsley will miss games Friday night in Spokane and Saturday at home to the Kelowna Chiefs (7:30 PM, Complex).

Under KIJHL rules, any check from behind (minor or major) comes with an automatic game misconduct. A new league mandate also stipulates any game misconduct assessed within the final ten minutes of regulation time carries an automatic suspension.

The game archive is not yet available on the KIJHL website.
