Grand Forks Begins Search For New Coach

The Border Bruins have parted ways with head coach and GM Jesse Dorrans.

To call this a firing would, however, be incorrect. Dorrans reportedly tendered his resignation, effective at the end of the season, to hockey operations staff earlier this week.

The team then elected to relieve him of his duties effective immediately, so that the search for his replacement could get underway.

Dorrans took over from Rob Fitzpatrick in May of 2009. Prior to that he had been an assistant coach with Castlegar.

Assistants Matt Zamec and Tom Frith will co-coach the team for their final nine games.

Grand Forks (7-33-0-1) plays tonight in the only game on the KIJHL docket as they host Beaver Valley (7:30 PM, Grand Forks Arena).

Tom Frith coaching? Last time I saw him on the ice he hammered the puck square on a breakaway.
