Rebels 3 Border Bruins 1

Not the prettiest of victories, but Steve Junker's troops will savour their first two points of 2011 after a 3-1 win in Grand Forks last night.

Taylor Anderson scored the eventual game-winner just shy of the 7-minute mark of the third period, and Anthony DeLong and Kwinn Mazzilli also tallied as the Rebels won their 29th game of the season. Alex Ross made 24 saves in his first start of the New Year.

Joey Cormano scored the lone goal for Grand Forks, handcuffing Ross on a wrist shot from the high slot. Ryan Ryman, who was named the game's first star, made 32 saves for the Border Bruins.

We'll Do It Live: For those of you who tuned in to last night's webcast, you may have noticed I wound up calling the game for the Border Bruins. I'm told their regular guy had to attend to a family matter in the Okanagan. Thanks to everyone in Grand Forks who made the broadcast go (relatively) smoothly, especially since I found out I was doing the game 3 minutes before puck drop.

Up Next: The Rebels head to the far north-eastern reaches of the KIJHL Friday night when they visit the Golden Rockets.
