In a game that will hardly be remembered as a classic, the Rebels managed a perfect weekend with a 5-2 win in Invermere tonight against the Columbia Valley Rockies. Ryan Aynsley scored his first two goals since returning to the team, his first standing as the game-winner, as Castlegar outchanced and outplayed a Rockies squad mired in the basement of the Eddie Mountain division.
Tyler Jones, Jamie Vlanich and Stuart Walton also scored for Castlegar, while Alex Ross collected the win in goal. Tryg Strand and Stephen Hynes replied for the Rockies.
Spencer Brodt returned to the lineup for the Rebels after missing almost a month with an injury. The team was without Ryan Reid, Darren Tarasoff, Curtis Pereverzoff and Arthur Andrews, all of whom missed last night's game in Golden as well.
Aynsley an All-Star?: Fernie's blogger is reporting on Twitter that Aynsley will take the place of injured Nelson Leafs forward Gavin Currie in next weekend's All-Star festivities in the Elk Valley. Nothing official is up on the KIJHL site yet, however.
Up Next: The Rebels are off until after the All-Star break, they host Grand Forks on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
