Former Smoke Eaters defenseman Eric Walker has joined the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants, the team is reporting.
The Castlegar native played the last two seasons with Trail, putting up 22 points in 112 appearances in the BCHL, adding 114 penalty minutes as a 16 and 17 year-old. He secured a scholarship to Northern Michigan University during his BCHL career, but had not seen any game action to this point in the season.
Walker's BCHL rights were traded to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in October in a six-player trade that saw defensemen Marley Keca, Tanner Hicks and forward Taylor House land in Trail.
The full release from the Western Hockey League is available here, it states Walker will make his debut tomorrow when the Giants host the Kootenay Ice.
Best of luck Eric with your new team!
