A pair of deals to report involving the Smoke Eaters today.
The club shipped forward Logan Proulx to the Cowichan Valley Capitals for future considerations. The Trail product had played 66 games over two seasons with the club since arriving from the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings, and had served as team captain this season, scoring 3 points (1-2) through the Smokies' first 14 games.
In a separate deal, Trail picked up 19 year-old forward Connor Tiechko from Prince George for future considerations. He is a BCHL vet with 110 games (Nanaimo, Surrey, PG) under his belt, scoring 26 points (13-13) with the Spruce Kings last season. The Chilliwack native had one assist in six appearances with Prince George so far in 2011-12.
Logan will definitely be missed here in Trail, but I am quite sure he'll fit in well with his new club in Duncan (coincidentally coached by former Smokies bench boss Jim Ingram). Best of luck with the Capitals this season!
Connor will add more veteran prescence, and BCHL experience to the Smokies' forward ranks, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table. Welcome aboard!
Sidhu On The Move: Another deal in the BCHL today involving a former Smoke Eater. Defenseman Rajan Sidhu is back in BC with the Coquitlam Express, who sent forward Coda Engbar to the Drumheller Dragons for the South Surrey product. Sidhu has 4 points (1-3) in 10 games so far this season (all with Trail), and he'll add a lot to the Express' defence corps. For those of you keeping score at home, Coquitlam visits Trail on January 13th.
