Silverbacks 7 Smoke Eaters 4

A four-point night from Devin Muller paced Salmon Arm to a 7-4 home ice victory over the Smokies tonight.

Klay Kachur opened things early in the first period with a slap shot from the right point before Bryce Gervais doubled the lead on a nifty cross-ice pass from Morgan Zulinick.

Trail's Adam Fares quickly eliminated the two-goal advantage with a pair of rebound tallies, and after the Silverbacks took a 3-2 lead, Garrett McMullen hammered home his second goal in as many nights to level things at three.

Brett Knowles rounded out a busy first period of scoring with a shot that went through the legs of a Smoke Eater defender before beating goaltender James D'Andrea blocker side.

Salmon Arm's Graham McBain, Alex Gillies, and a second from Gervais made the score 7-3 (the latest goal being scored after Reed Vogt came on in relief of D'Andrea. Affiliate callup Craig Martin scored the only goal of the third period, his first in the BCHL, to finish things at 7-4.

Up Next: Trail takes on Westside in a matinee (2:30, Royal Lepage Place). Enjoy the extra hour of sleep, then join me for the call on Ustream.
