The Trail Smoke Eaters have named their new captain: soon-to-be 20-year-old forward Garrett McMullen will don the "C" for the orange and black this year after putting up 36 points (17-19) in his rookie BCHL season last year.

McMullen, from Rochester, New York, came to Trail early in the season from the Powell River Kings and was one of the hardest-working players on last year's squad. His positive attitude and demeanor on and off the ice will serve this club well as it grows toward the start of the 2012-13 season.

The full release from the team is available here.

I also chatted with McMullen last night after a rookie-camp scrimmage (I'll have more on rookie camp in a wrap this evening), you can listen to that conversation here.
