Pears, Sandler Earn Honourable Mentions

Great news for two Smokies from BCHL headquarters Monday, as defenseman Braden Pears and forward Luke Sandler both earned honourable mentions for BCHL Player of the Week.

Sandler enjoyed a pair of two-goal outings in Nanaimo and Port Alberni Friday and Saturday, including a game-winner and a short-handed marker that will resonate through Frank Crane Arena for some time to reach the 20-goal mark on the season, while Pears scored twice, capping off his weekend with a late power-play winner in Langley Sunday. He leads the Smokies in defensive scoring with 6 goals and 26 points.

The full release from the team is available here.

Pears has now earned two honourable mentions this season, while this week's announcement is Sandler's first. The lone Smoke Eater to earn Player of the Week this season was Garrett McMullen last month.

Way to go fellas!
